A Message from Council Member Juan Arango Millan

the Town of Brentwood has been recognized with Silver Certification by Sustainable Maryland, joining the top municipalities in our state leading the way in sustainability and community innovation.

As Chair of the Sustainability and Tree Committees, I want to thank our Green Team, Town staff, and our Mayor and Town Council for making this possible. Special recognition to the Honorable Lauren Rauk, whose leadership has been the backbone of our environmental progress; our Town Administrator, for keeping our projects on track; and the Honorable Jerry Burgess, for his consistent support and partnership.

Together, we have expanded free public Wi-Fi, installed solar panels and EV charging stations, launched our Climate Action Plan, strengthened Brentwood’s tree canopy, created native pollinator gardens, supported local food access through the Gateway Farmers Market, and built new partnerships that connect sustainability with community.

This is more than recognition. It’s a reminder that when we work together, small towns can lead big change.
