Town of Brentwood Municipal Elections

Every two years the Town of Brentwood elects a new Mayor and Town Council.

CANDIDATES:  To qualify for any of these offices per Section 301.0 of the Town Charter you must have been a qualified voter and lived in the Town for at least one year (365 days) prior to March 17, 2017.   You also must maintain your physical residence in the Town for the entirety of your term of office.  No candidate can run for more than one office in any given election.  The minimum age to run for Councilmember is twenty-five (25). The minimum age for Mayor is thirty (30).  As per section 508.0 of the Town Charter and section 19-7 Part C of the Town Code of Ethics, each candidate must file a petition and submit a financial disclosure form to appear on the ballot. 

VOTERS:  You must be a resident of the Town of Brentwood and have registered with the Prince George’s County Board of elections at least 20 days prior to the election on May 1, 2017.  If you were qualified to vote in last year’s State and Federal elections in the Town of Brentwood and have made no changes in your status you are still qualified to vote.  Voter registration forms can be picked up at Town Hall during normal business hours and 2 special voter registration days have been set aside for the Municipal Elections.

Important Dates:

Feb 27, 2017 Candidate Petitions and Financial Disclosure forms available at Town Hall. 

March 17, 2017 Deadline for Petitions and Financial Disclosure forms to be filed.

April 3, 2017 Voter registration at Town Hall (7 AM – 8 PM)

April 10, 2017 Voter registration at Town Hall (7 AM – 8 PM)

May 1, 2017 Municipal Election at Town Hall.
